Swell continues to decline from yesterday morning’s sizable offerings. As of 0730 the MHL buoy was showing it 2 metres of south swell at 11 seconds apart. That was enough to produce the odd overhead set at Dee Why, but it looks as though the lulls are getting longer with each passing hour. If the trend lines continue in the current direction, by lunch time the swell will be under the 2 metre mark and the power setting will be below the 10 sec mark. That doesn’t mean it’ll be flat or anything, so if your schedule means you’re stuck with the afternoon shift, don’t despair, there should still be something surfable at your favourite south magnet.
Winds are set to be light and out of the north to NW this morning, with a swing to the north later.
I got out and about with the camera yesterday and as I write this, images are uploading to new galleries from Dee Why point, Longy bombies and The Kick and Collaroy. It was damn big at Dee Why and scary big at the bombies. By the time I got around to Collaroy, the Kick was getting pretty inconsistent, but there were still a few head high sets getting in.
We may still have a few mal waves around tomorrow morning and across the weekend – possibly – but I’ll be interested to see what the Goat says beyond that because the models are saying we’re headed for micro-ness across the front end of next week.

A strong high pressure system over the southwestern Tasman Sea will move slowly towards New Zealand over the next few days maintaining a ridge to the New South Wales north coast. A cold front is expected to affect the coast on Sunday, with northwesterly winds ahead of it and south to southwesterlies behind.Forecast for Thursday until midnight
Winds: Northwesterly 5 to 15 knots tending north to northwesterly up to 10 knots around midday then becoming northerly 10 to 15 knots by early evening. Seas: Below 1 metre. Swell: Southerly about 1.5 metres.Forecast for Friday
