Dribbling In
Posted on September 15th, 2011 in Manly.Only 1-2ft lines dribbling in this morning There is the odd surprise wall but the tide is rapidly filling in and the wind is dying to go onshore. Surface is semi glassy but light southerly is roughling things as well. You’re not missing much.
The Lump Factor, In Byron Bay Today.
Posted on September 15th, 2011 in Byron.Yes folks it was a tad lumpy and bumpy on both sides of the cape, in Byron Bay today. It’s just the way it seems to go at this time of year, the predominant wind is from the north. The swell tends to be short period wind swell. Add to that a full moon low tide and it all means you just gotta include the lump factor into the equation of whether you chose to surf or not, In Byron Bay Today.
Bye-bye swell, thanks for the waves
Posted on September 14th, 2011 in Dee Why.

Hello Friends,
Another beautiful morning in Sydney – and we still have a few waves left in the account. Swell is a bit closer to SSE than yesterday. It’s averaging about a metre out at the MHL buoy and the average period is sitting on 9 seconds. There’s still some 11 second component in the mix, so every now and then a chest to shoulder high set arrives at Dee Why beach.
Wind is set to be out of the NW through the day but the swell trend line is distinctly downward, so my guess is that the early session will be the best of it today.
This morning’s batch of swell forecasts looks much like yesterday’s – ie it’s calling for a week (at least) of small to flat conditions for the east coast.
So get out there and enjoy and keep on smilin’!
Weather Situation
A high pressure system is centred over northwest NSW. A cold front approaches western Victoria, and is expected to cross Victoria and southeastern NSW today, moving through southern coastal waters tonight and central and possibly northern parts of the coast on Thursday before moving away. The high moves over southeast Queensland or the northern Tasman Sea and will then extend a ridge to the south, over NSW, for the remainder of the week.
Forecast for Wednesday until midnight
- Winds
- West to northwesterly 10 to 20 knots.
- Seas
- Up to 1.5 metres.
- Swell

Thursday 15 September

- Swell
- Southerly about 1 metre.
Friday 16 September

Curly/Freshy Rpt
Posted on September 14th, 2011 in Surf Reports.Looks nothing like the past few days now. Barely any left that’s more than chest-high and some loss of power too. So the banks that once worked now don’t even figure. Curly looks better. Freshy looks worse
Leftovers
Posted on September 14th, 2011 in Manly.South swell has dropped to 2ft at Manly. Was a couple nice shaped ones at dawn then the day-after crowd hit and the tide started to get too high. Clean and offshore. Cracker of a day so find somewhere milking the most out of the south direction. You may have to wait until a lower tide (3:14pm) for it though.
Back Home, In Byron Bay Today.
Posted on September 14th, 2011 in Byron. After a whirlwind trip down the coast for a family 80th birthday celebration, we quickly did an about face and hurtled all the way back home, in Byron Bay today. We arrived home just in time to catch a few shots of a clean south swell wrapping into the bay. Huey gently dusted it off with a nice little breeze and from those lucky enough to get amongst it there was much rejoicing, In Byron Bay Today.

These are the photos that you guys have clicked on the most for the month of June 2011. We’re both occasionally a little surprised by what comes up as the most popular shots in these updates. Lookin Good
Posted on September 13th, 2011 in Manly. It was pumping at dawn then the higher tide seemed to kill it at the Queenscliff end for a while where I surfed. Still great 3-4ft+ waves along Manly with some bomb sets. Clean and offshore. Should be a great day if the wind holds off towards the outgoing tide.
Curly/Freshy Rpt
Posted on September 13th, 2011 in Surf Reports.Still size around. Banks at Freshy are better than Curly’s, but also have a big crowd there
