Scrappy conditions again
Posted on November 30th, 2011 in Dee Why.
Hello Friends,
Tide was low around 0520 this morning and will hit the high at around 1150. Not that it’s likely to make much difference to Dee Why. As the day got started, the wind swell was lapping in at about 7 seconds apart. It was close to the 2 metre mark at sea and coming from the ENE. Wind was out of the NNE at 10-15 kts. It’s set to build up to 20-30 kts ahead of a strong 30-35 kt south change this evening. So, if you’re really keen, head to the north corners where you just might find something to grovel around on.
The change will rip the primary swell direction around to the south and while it is set to push up into the 2-3 metre range at sea, 20-30 kts of southerly will limit the options pretty severely.
Southerly conditions are set to prevail on Friday with more short period south wind swell.
Early summer… what can ya do?
Have yourself a great day!

Peaky Head high.
Posted on November 30th, 2011 in North Narrabeen. With the constant NE wind last night there are some peaky head high waves at Northy this morning. Good to see some swell at least. Still a bit bumpy and very short period. But fun. Enjoy. Surf Photos of You.
Dont panic but I saw a 3fter
Posted on November 30th, 2011 in Manly.NE windswell dropped since last nights peak but still the odd 3ft set which is good considering our recent run. Wind is swinging NNE and NE but despite the bumps there the odd fun ride. 7:39am low so could be better as tide comes in as long as wind doesn’t come around too East.
Most Popular October 2011, In Byron Bay Today.
Posted on November 30th, 2011 in Byron.Yes folks, that’s right, it’s time for a most popular shots update, in Byron Bay today. Here’s the most popular for October 2011 the shots that were clicked on the most since they went live. Hmm now it’s a little early in the month for a most popular update again. This could only mean one of two things, either there is no surf, or we’re really, really, really busy. Well it’s a little from column A, and a little from column B. You see yes it’s very small yet again. But that usually doesn’t stop us shooting, however we’re also trying to get the site rebuilt to celebrate being live for three years. So we hope you enjoy these shots, and we’ll keep working on all the new stuff. Meanwhile be patient with the flat spell. Because believe it or not, all signs are pointing to some reasonable, although not that big, waves coming soon, In Byron Bay Today.
A little activity… very little…
Posted on November 29th, 2011 in Dee Why.
Hello Friends,
Looks very small down at Dee Why this morning. The MHL buoy is showing around a metre of 6 second period wind swell, so it’s not exactly a surprise that it’s so marginal. You might go a bit better at spots like Curly, Manly and Northy that do more with this kind of weak NE stuff.
The wind is expected to ramp up into a summery 20-30 kts of NE’r by this afternoon. That should lead to a few opportunities for the late at NE wind swell spots. And, since it’ll keep up overnight, tomorrow could see a touch more activity at those same places.
Have yourself a great day!
