Fun little ones
Posted on November 18th, 2011 in Long Reef. There were a few fun little ones at Longy this morning. There is a 2 foot SE swell and the Bombie had a small wave on it. A few little beaches as well. Enjoy. Surf Photos of You.
Dee Why Today: Dolphins galore, waves not.
Posted on November 18th, 2011 in Surf Reports.About a gazillion dolphins have been hanging around offshore between Dee Why and Long Reef all morning. Just having a bit of fun. The wave situation remains dire, though I did manage to snap a little ankle slapper at the Point.
At least it’s glassy?
Posted on November 18th, 2011 in Manly.Micro but hey it’s supper glassy. Actually looks like a touch of south in the micro swell so try over the hill somewhere to squeeze just that little bit more out. And take your flat wave weapon.
Dee Why doldrums bespeak a wider malaise

Hello Friends,
Well, I’ve been right through the WAMs and numerous riffs thereupon and I can report that the outlook for the east coast of Oz remains bleak for at least another couple days. If we’re lucky, there might be a little bump into the thigh high range on Sunday morning. But if the supercomputers have crunched the numbers accurately, we’re looking like facing another week of micro to extremely marginal conditions. There are a few lows in the deep southern ocean, but the forecasts show them staying well away from our swell window (SW WA, SA and Western Vic should be okay though). Meanwhile, the Coral Sea and environs is looking pretty quiet.
What can ya do, but wait, eh?
Go well with your day and keep on smilin’ through!
Weather Situation
A southerly change associated with with a cold front over the southern Tasman Sea is moving along New South Wales Mid North Coast and weakening. Behind the front a high pressure system will move over the southwestern Tasman Sea on Thursday gradually extending a ridge to the north coast. The next southerly change is expected to develop along the southern half of the coast on Saturday.

Offer is still open to RealSurf locals for $50 off a longboard with discount code “Manly” at www.surfboardsdirect.com.au If you don’t have foam in our quiver you sure as hell need it right now.
Where’s Huey?

Hello Friends,
It’s flat this morning, but there seems to be a very slight perk in size way down the coast at Eden. The Bureau’s swell modelling shows a south change coming through during the morning, so I’m guessing that’s why we’re seeing a little activity down south. Wind’s due to be from the SE by around lunch. That paints a picture of onshore dribble, but bigger dribble than we saw as the day kicked off.
As you can see from the marine forecast below, the rest of the week is looking as small – or possibly smaller – than today.
So it goes, eh?
Have yourself a top old Wednesday (well, as top as you can when there are no waves!).
Weather Situation
A persistent high pressure system lies over the Tasman Sea with a ridge extending towards Queensland .A front is moving northwards from Victoria in to NSW, and this will bring a southerly change along southern and central parts of the coast today. The change will stall on the North Coast and weaken into a slow moving trough during Thursday and Friday while most of the coast sees a return of a north to northeasterly airstream under the influence of the Tasman High..
Forecast for Wednesday until midnightWinds
East to northeasterly 5 to 10 knots ahead of a southerly change up to 30 knots during the morning then tending south to southeasterly up to 15 knots around midday.
Seas
Below 1 metre.
Swell
Northeasterly about 1 metre.
Weather
Isolated thunderstorms offshore this morning and afternoon.Thursday 17 November
Winds
East to southeasterly 10 to 15 knots tending east to northeasterly up to 10 knots by early evening.
SeasBelow 1 metre.
Swell
Northeasterly 0.5 metres.
Weather
The chance of thunderstorms.Friday 18 November
Winds
North to northeasterly 5 to 15 knots increasing to 10 to 20 knots during the afternoon.
Seas
Below 1 metre increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres during the evening.
Swell
Northeasterly 0.5 metres.
Nice Day for a Swim
Posted on November 16th, 2011 in Manly.Couldn’t even find a bump to photograph this morning. Nice n glassy though. Better for a swim like those pink capped bold and beautiful crew that swim almost everyday of the year. Madness.
Puny morning at Dee Why
Posted on November 15th, 2011 in Dee Why.
Hello Friends,
Well, back from the Surfrider conference in Margaret River to dear old Sydney and things seem to be much as I left them on Friday – namely weak and tiny. The MHL buoy is showing a metre of 6sec period south swell out at sea. In on the beach at Dee Why there’s a bit of froth on along the rocks at the point and the odd sub knee high scraps of dribble along the beach.
The wind is set to be out of the south early and then to swing to the SE later. Not a good thing where our beaches are concerned. But worse, the swell outlook is currently for no significant change. This morning’s run of the wave models does not a happy picture make. Energy is coming across from the southern ocean, but it’s just staying away from our swell window. And sadly, these conditions look like lasting for at least another week.
Pretty much what you’d expect for this time of year I guess. So, what can you do, but keep the powder dry and wait for the magic days to return. Go well!
Weather Situation
A persistent high pressure system lies over the Tasman Sea. A weakening cold front will bring a southerly change to the Mid North Coast today, but is not expected to reach the Queensland border. Northeasterly winds will become reestablished along the coast under the influence of the high, before another south to southeasterly change develops along the southern half of the coast during Wednesday.
Forecast for Tuesday until midnight
Winds
Southerly 10 to 20 knots tending east to southeasterly up to 15 knots around midday then becoming east to northeasterly during the afternoon and increasing to 15 to 20 knots during the evening.

Swell
Easterly about 1.5 metres tending southerly 0.5 metres late this evening.
Wednesday 16 November

Swell
Southeasterly 0.5 metres tending easterly about 1 metre from the morning.
Weather
The chance ofthunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
