Cool and southerly, must be the first day of summer

Hello Friends,

Summer kicks off in a less than auspicious fashion with 20-30 kts of southerly and a 7 sec period south wind swell of close to 3 metres at sea. There’s a little something showing at Dee Why point, but it wasn’t enough to lure anyone into the water as of 0730. Make no mistake though, you’d have to be very, very keen – and have something very buoyant for the task at hand.

The southerly’s due to weaken a little around midday and overnight I reckon it’ll likely back off a touch more. So just maybe there will be “better” conditions this afternoon when the wind weakens but before the swell follows suit.

Outlook suggests we might get another pulse on Saturday, and just maybe, something interesting on Monday-Tuesday.

Have yourself a great day!

Weather Situation

A trough is moving across the northeast with winds strengthening along the northern half of the coast. The high centred near the Bight is expected to remain slow moving during next few days and maintain a ridge over the coast with winds in the north gradually easing by Saturday. Winds in the south may strengthen on Sunday as a cold front enters the southwestern Tasman Sea.
