Look around, you might find something

Hello Friends,

Broke out of the usual routine at RealSurf HQ and went for a bit of a wander. There’s a couple metres of 8 second period east wind swell getting into the beaches this morning. And for the early at any rate, the wind was out of the north. That made the north corners at Curly and Northy clean looking. Weirdly there were very few people in the water at either spot.

Sets at exposed spots were getting into the shoulder high range on take-off and while not exactly smokin’, the juice factor was surprisingly reasonable given the short average period. On the other hand, the incoming tide seemed to have reduced the number of peaks and there was quite a wait between the rideable ones. Still… considering how resolutely ordinary it’s been all week, this was a nice change.

The wind is already getting around to the NE and by this afternoon it could be reasonably fresh as it gets into the 15-25kt range.

Tide’s high at 0945 or so and low at 1610.

Outlook is for the average wave heights to decrease over the next 48 hours and by Sunday arvo we could be into the start of an extended period of small, weak and onshore surf conditions – if the computer modelling is to be believed.

Anyway, have yourself a great Friday!

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough is deepening over eastern NSW as a high pressure ridge extends from the Bight towards the Tasman Sea. The combination of these systems is producing onshore winds across much of the NSW coast. The trough will move eastwards over the next couple of days with a weak low pressure centre developing off the South Coast on Saturday.
