Clearing with waves for the early

Hello Friends,

Fun looking chest high waves at Dee Why this morning courtesy of a couple metres of 9-12 second period SE swell and light winds.

There were waves at both the point and along the beach north to No Man’s and I reckon these conditions will prevail along most of Sydney’s coast this morning.

The light north wind will gradually swing NE and pick up to be a typical afternoon NE’r of 15-20 kts. So, pretty much everywhere should have something this morning, and this afternoon it’ll be time to beat a retreat to the north corners.

Swell is set to stay at around the same intensity all day but to decrease a touch for tomorrow and Friday. However, of greater importance will be the expected overnight south change. It could be pretty beat up at most spots tomorrow morning. The good news is that that Bureau expects the wind to fade through the day and with luck there might be okay conditions for the late tomorrow. It might even last into Friday morning…

Go well with your day one and all!

Weather Situation

A high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea is directing northeast to southeast winds along the NSW coast. A low pressure trough and associated gusty southerly change will move over the southern NSW coast later today, then to central parts early Thursday before weakening and becoming slow-moving. On Friday a weakening tropical low will pass over southeast Queensland, and a cold front is expected to cross southern NSW with strong west to southwest winds to follow. A high pressure ridge will develop over the state over the weekend with winds moderating.
