Manly was the pick this morning

Hello Friends,

Had a busy Friday myself, how ’bout you? Managed to get wet at Longy but have to say that was not the best option. I shoulda joined the crowds in Manly (and it was crowded) because the east swell was playing more nice there. Sets at Longy were mostly in the chest high range and few and far between as the tide peaked. An hour or so later the Manly stretch was that big on the average ones and into the overhead range on the sets from about North Steyne to Queensie. Instead of ducking in for a quick surf before a looming meeting, I decided to shoot pictures instead. Just loading a selection to my galleries now… so if you were in the water, come back later for the link.

This afternoon I had a look at Curly and Northy and can report that they were both pretty looking, but the swell seems to be weakening, so the wait for sets was pretty long. As of 1630, the MHL buoy is showing a metre of ESE swell with an average period of around 9 seconds. There are 11 second period sets in amongst it and I’m guessing that’s the (inconsistent) stuff people were mostly chasing.

A beautiful day and I hope the harbinger of many more to come as we enter the peak surf season…

Go well!
