Rainy morning (day?) in Sydney

Hello Friends,

Lots of rain heading into the Sydney region around 0630, but the radar seems to show a fair amount of rain free sky an hour or two behind it, so maybe it’ll clear up later…

Wind was ESE to SE at 10-15 kts for the early. The Bureau says it’ll come around to the NE and be a vigorous 20-30 kts. Swell is mainly from the east. It’s a couple metres out at sea, but the average period is a gutless 7 seconds or so. I’d be very surprised if there’s much of anything interesting going on right now. Later today the swell should build though and just maybe there’ll be some scrappy stuff worth the effort in a north corner because the swell is expected to push up with the wind.

Swell could be thumping tomorrow though because the swell should build into the 2-3 metre range and the period should stretch out to 10+ seconds. The big issue will be the wind. According to this morning’s forecast from the BoM, the NE’r will be 20-30 kts tomorrow morning but by midday it will throttle back a touch to 15-20 kts under partly cloudy skies.

No surf for your correspondent today – although there are a few little waves around. Maybe tomorrow morning…

Have a good one!
