Dripping skies, dribbley waves

Hello Friends,

At around 1000 the rain backed off enough for me to climb aloft into the RealSurf crows nest. Pointing the Nikon at Dee Why, I could make out small waves at the point and along the beach. We’re talking slow-ish and waist high on average, so nothing to make you want to drop everything and get out there.

Not much wind about when I checked, but the swell is maybe a metre from the SE according to the MHL data, plus it’s only 9 seconds apart (although there is some 12 second component in the mix).

The Bureau says that the swell might come up a touch late this evening and tomorrow could see us with w-nw wind and 2 metres of SE swell.

Then on Tuesday things really start looking interesting. The wind forecast is okay for the morning, but in the afternoon a strong southerly is set to kick in and the swell should really ramp up to impressive size. Here’s hoping for a few clean forerunner sets before it all ends in southerly tears.

Wednesday should be almost as big as late Tuesday but onshores look to be our fate.

Thursday the swell is currently forecast to have backed off into the 2-3 metre range, but the winds might be a little more favourable as the modelling shows them coming from the SW…

Anyway, should be an interesting week!

Go well.

Tide is low at 1245 or so and goes back to a highish high by 1915.

On Tuesday the low is expected to re-enter NSW coastal waters and track northwards, with very windy conditions and potentially moderate to heavy falls developing along the southern NSW coast on Tuesday.
