Epic Mid Winter In The Mentawai’s
Posted by: PerfectWaver on August 9th, 2012
Gold Coast based photographer Andy Potts hit The Mentawai’s mid Winter for his first ever boat charter. A bumpy crossing and a few days of left over wind swell was the “Entree” for the first few days of the trip, but a fresh ground swell combined with light, variable winds ensured the “Main “ was pretty much epic.
Macaronis and HT’s pumped all week and Andy nailed some great shots to prove it.
It was an epic trip to The Ments, a chance to escape the winter cold water blues made oh so easy by the helpful crew at The Perfect Wave Surf Experience.

Saturday morning dawned sunny and offshore at Dee Why beach. The crew were on it, and before I went for a surf myself, I shot for an hour from about 0840. I would’ve taken even...
