How good was it? Beyond my expectations that’s for sure! And probably yours too. Dee Why in particular was lighting up on Sunday in that way that it does when the sun, moon, tide and wind align. It was a pretty awesome sight as the sun-lit, wind-sculpted plumes peeled away in startling nebulousness from the backs of the sets as they rolled in. (!)

Add to it the arrival of one of the largest pods of dolphins I have ever seen. They didn’t seem to be in a playful mood though and probably more intent on grabbing a good feed from the large schools of fish that were around as well.

Curly was going off nicely too with huge set waves pushing through every 5 or 10 minutes making their presence well and truly felt.

All in all it was a ripper weekend for surfing on the Northern Beaches and I managed to squeeze off a few shots which you can see here:
