Windy start to Tuesday

Hello Friends,

10-20 kts of SSE wind as Tuesday got started in Sydney. It’s pushed the swell up overnight, but conditions are messy at Dee Why and there were only a few takers at the point before 0700. Didn’t see anyone up the beach where the conditions were even more torn up. Biggest set I saw was around the chest to shoulder high mark. Swell is around 3 metres out at sea. It’s coming out of the SSE with an average period of 7 seconds – so, your basic wind swell really.

Outlook is for the wind to back off as the day goes along, but to stay out of the east. So, not a recipe for quality conditions anywhere in Sydney today.

Tide was low at 0700 and will be back to high at 1320.

Tomorrow morning is still looking a possibility. The winds are set to be light at first and then out of the northerly quarters later in the day. The swell should still be around, but smaller than today. Should be a little something – as long as you’re not too picky.

Longer term, the models are rather glum. If they’ve got it right today is the peak in size for the next week at least. Oh well, what can ya do? That’s surfin’.

Have a great Tuesday!

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough off New South Wales coast will be moving north slowly bringing a fresh to strong southwest to southeasterly airstream. The trough will weaken in the north today as a high pressure system east of Tasmania strengthens a ridge over remainder of the coast. The next trough/frontal system is expected to bring another coastal southerly change on Wednesday and Thursday.
