SE wind and small south swell

How keen are ya?

Hello Friends,

Our old pal the SE’r was doing its devilish work from early this morning and as a consequence Dee Why (among many others) was very scrappy and messy. There’s a little south swell of around 1.5 metres with an average period of 8 seconds. Wind was SE 10-15kts at 0730. Next tide is a low at around 1245. We’re headed to a high of 27 and there’s an 80% chance of 10-25mm of rain.

The Bureau says that the wind will pick up some more and that the swell should be swinging to the east and coming up to two metres.

Sadly, the forecasts continue to show a very unfavourable wind regime for the duration of the swell. Whilst it is looking like being very big on Friday night and into early Saturday morning, Saturday looks pretty awful, with lots of easterly wind and rain making conditions diabolical. The bummer is that the wind forecast for the coming week is for unrelenting onshores. There should be swell though.

I hope the conditions around at Collaroy are okay for the good folks from Disabled Surfers Association who are running an event on Saturday morning.

Have yourself a great Thursday!

Weather Situation
A deep low pressure system off Queensland southeast coast extends a trough along New South Wales north coast while a high pressure system near Tasmania extends a ridge along the south and central coasts. The two system are bringing vigorous winds to the north coast. As the low moves south winds on the north coast will ease from the north during Friday and Saturday but increase on the central and south coasts.
