Rain away, sunny morning

Hello Friends, A very leisurely start for your webmaster this am. Been battling a cough and cold all week and watching the tour last night didn’t help either. Went through Dee Why for a look about 0930. A passing shower’d left it all glittery and drippy and the water was looking pretty foul from the […]

Rainy start and smaller again too

Hello Friends, Not the most enticing conditions for an early morning surf at Dee Why. There were some little waves (probably around the chest high range on sets) but given the on-again, off-again rain and the somewhat bumpy and floppy looking swell, there were no takers as of 0700. The Bureau tells us that the […]

Inbetween showers.

The rain held off long enough for me to grab a few pics of the Northern Beaches.  There are a few waves around.  SPoY.

Cleaner but still lumpy and bumpy

Hello Friends, Light offshore winds this morning under gloomy skies. Swell was mainly out of the E to ESE at a touch under 3 metres with an average period of 12 seconds. The ocean surface was considerably smoother than this time yesterday, but it has that kind of heaving, raw quality where nice sections lurch […]

Slightly Smoother Chunks

A couple of hours of offshore has done enough to glass off the surface but not the big lumps n bumps.  Still some chunky 6ft sets amongst the mix but not too appealing.  The light wind forecast and dropping swell might help. High tide around midday. Mark – Surfboards Direct

The Goat’s Surf Forecast

Surf forecast issued Thursday 27 June 2013: Seven day outlook for Sydney: Looks like the delightful weather conditions are going to continue for a bit, which may make the surf less attractive to some (ie me!)… Friday: in the 2-3 metre range East Saturday: in the 1-2 metre range East Sunday: lower end of the […]

Chahunky

Big and ugly. 6ft Maybe the odd 8ft rogue but hard to tell. Too much East in the wind to hide anywhere. Sat looks good for weekend warriors. Mark – Surfboards Direct

Really messy again on Thursday

Hello Friends, ESE wind has crueled the pitch this morning. There’s 3.5 metres of mainly east swell at close to 11 seconds apart, so no lack of energy on that front, but the ocean is pretty hacked up and messy looking – although not as badly as yesterday. Next tide is a high at 1130. […]

South Hiding

Still plenty of swell but an ugly SSE wind forcing all to hide in the south corners.  Swell has eased back a lot to 4-5ft or so but considering the recent quality most people should be fussy by now and wait for some friendlier winds. Mark – Surfboards Direct

Write it off this morning

Hello Friends, Fergedaboutit. Despite all the huffing and puffing, the swell’s looking smaller at Dee Why-Long Reef and Collaroy-Narrabeen. But the real issue is that wind. It’s SE at 15-20 kts and the ocean is a mess. There’s not enough swell to wrap into Collaroy and everywhere else is just a choppy mess. Swell is […]
