A very leisurely start for your webmaster this am. Been battling a cough and cold all week and watching the tour last night didn’t help either. Went through Dee Why for a look about 0930. A passing shower’d left it all glittery and drippy and the water was looking pretty foul from the run off. But… there were waves both at the point and up along the beach to the pole and maybe beyond. It’s not exactly a high quality swell, but sets at the point were respectably overhead and down the beach it looked to be about the same size-wise. It’s kinda floppy and sectiony though.
It being a nice-ing up morning and all, I headed up to have a look at Northy and environs. The good news is that the bank seems as though it might be on the mend. Maybe all the swell activity has hauled enough sand off the beach and dunes to start filling in that dirty great hole… speaking of dirty… the lagoon discharge has turned Northy’s water into something like tea. Lotta muck in there I’d think. Wave quality was sort of okay, if a bit fat and floppy. Set wave faces were into the head high range.
Finally, I had squizz at south Narrabeen from Mactier Street. Reasonable number of bods, much cleaner looking water too. Swell-tide-bank combo was producing a very high percentage of shutdowns though. But then that’s not exactly news from the front.
Swell is around the 1.5 metre mark at sea, it’s coming from the ESE and the period is a healthy 11 seconds.
Tide was low at 0750 and will be high at 1420.
Surf outlook for the next few days is for conditions to stay around the present settings, give or take (as the Goat would say). Winds should be from the SE from late morning.

A high pressure system near the Bight extends a ridge across the southern Tasman Sea and a low pressure trough lies off the northern New South Wales coast. During Sunday the trough will deepen with a low forming within the trough on Monday before moving away from the coast during Tuesday and Wednesday.
