Grey skies and micro waves

Caught one!
Hello Friends,

Tuesday starts under grey skies but worse, it also begins pretty much as it left off yesterday, ie with almost no wave energy. The Sydney direction spectra is showing only a faint wash of light blue showing from the easterly quarters. The average height at sea is about a metre and the period is a fluffy 6 seconds.

As the picture illustrates, these conditions are producing set waves at around the knee high level if you happened to be in the water at Dee Why around 0700.

From the shape of the swell forecasts this morning, it would seem we’re facing another three days or so of this at most places. There could be a little mixed south and east pulse on Friday, so I’m cautiously hopeful of a wave. But until then… well, let’s just say that I’ll keep checking and reporting as always!

After a long period of the sales luffing in a faint breeze, we had a really good day on the crowdfunding front yesterday. A huge thanks to each and every one of you who has pledged over the last month and welcome aboard to yesterday’s newest pledgers.

We’re still well short of the goal and we have a month to get there, but whether we hit or not, I’ve decided that the only reasonable response is to have a party. I’m calling it Don’s Surf Party: celebration or wake (we’ll cross out the word that does not apply!).
You’re invited so long as you do one little thing… yep, you know what I’m sayin’… to get an invite you’ll need to be a pledger. Our venue will be Deck Bar in Dee Why and while I’ve just started working on the evening’s program, I can tell you there’ll definitely be some fresh footage from Tim Bonython and I’ll be sharing some of my 1977 16mm film of MP, Rabbit, Terry Fitz, etc. Should be a board auction or three as well. We’re going to be upstairs, so places are limited. Get in now to avoid disappointment!

Have yourself a great day and keep on smilin’ through!
