Rainy and small

Hello Friends,

Nice morning for ducks. Not much wind early, so I guess that’s something.
There were a few folks in the water when it finally got light enough to see (and the rain backed off for a minute). Looked smooth enough, but lumpy, and maybe waist to chest on the biggest faces. Unfortunately, the lack of banks at Dee Why continues to mean that most waves are little more than an opportunity to get to your feet before things shutdown. Throw in the dark grey skies and the iffy water and, well, you gotta be very keen!
MHL’s Sydney buoy was showing 1.5 metres of 8 sec SE wind swell as of 0300. There is some longer period and more southerly stuff showing at Pt Kembla and Eden, so maybe the energy levels will drift up a bit later. The issue, apart from the rain and gloom, will be what the wind gets up to. The Bureaus says east to SE this morning going east to NE this afternoon at 10-15 kts. And, with all the rain about, I’d say there could be some water quality issues. Tide is high at 0810.

Small, junky, dodgy water, rainy but not totally uncatchable - if you're super keen.

Outlook for the week ahead is strictly so-so. Right now it’s shaping to be more of the same marginal knee to waist high onshore dribble at most places. Mornings will be the best shot – although tides are high in the morning hours until midweek – when the swell energy levels are forecast to drop into the tiny range.

Another week of slogging toward autumn’s gems…

Have yourself a fun Saturday!
