Waves before wind

Hello Friends,

Almost chilly feeling this morning with mainly cloudy skies and frequent showers at first. Tide’s low at 0820 and back to high at 1420, by which time the Bureau tells us win will be SE at 15-20 kts. But at 0715 when I first took a look, Dee Why was reasonably smooth looking. The MHL site was off the air this morning, so I don’t have solid numbers to give you at this stage, but the Bureau’s forecast of 1.5 metres SE increasing to 1.5-2 metres this morning, looks entirely plausible.

As the pictures show, there were some head plus wave faces coming into the point and along the beach. So the size is there, but for some reason the angle isn’t quite right for the point on a lot of them, and of course, the beach is still pretty much peak-free.

There aren’t many spots that will offer waves and protection from the wind, but I reckon there could be a few options if you don’t mind smaller waves.

Outlook is for the mainly SE onshores to continue through Wednesday, but the early mornings could be alright. According to most of the modelling, Sydney should have waves of some description through this week.

Have a great Monday everyone, and keep on smilin’!
