Another rest day

Hello Friends,

Unseasonably mild under sunny skies this morning. No sign of swell either. The MHL buoy was showing half a metre of nearly 14-second east swell, but there was no obvious activity showing at Dee Why when I took the pictures around 0800. According to the Bureau’s modelling, it won’t be improving today either.

In fact, the rest of the work week looks, well, weak.

As they have been saying for some days now, the various swell prediction models are showing the swell arriving from midday-ish on Saturday. Unfortunately the Bureau says the wind’ll be pushing along at 25-30 kts from the SSW, so surf options will be pretty restricted. On Sunday the swell may drop back a touch, but the wind could go more SW and open up a few more spots.

The long range projections for next week aren’t looking as hopeless as this week’s. Indeed, some of models are downright encouraging about the Weds-Sat timeframe.

So, relax, get chores and responsibilities out of the way this week and keep your options open thereafter.

Have a top old Wednesday everybody!

Weather Situation

A ridge of high pressure lies across northern New South Wales, while a series of cold fronts are moving from the Southern Ocean across southeast Australia. This pattern is generating a vigorous westerly airstream over southern and central parts of the New South Wales coast. A stronger cold front is expected to sweep across the region during Thursday and Friday, after which winds should gradually ease as the next high pressure system becomes established.
