Beautiful morning …for a swim

Hello Friends,

Only the faintest hint of energy this morning. The MHL Sydney buoy was showing a metre of 5-second NE wind swell at 0600 and by the time I checked conditions at 0800 the tiny waves were little more than a rime of white on the rocks at Dee Why. Better exposed spots might offer the odd knee high wavelet, but the person bobbing hopefully around at the point didn’t look likely to be troubled by anything as big as that.

It’s an absolutely beautiful morning though.

The flatness looks likely to persist for another day and a half. Tuesday afternoon should potentially see an interesting change as we see a couple of metres (potentially) of south swell in combo with late afternoon offshores.

This morning’s long range models are pointing to more activity from late Tuesday through into next week. If the more optimistic modelling is right, Monday and Tuesday week could be pretty fun at south swell spots. That’d be right. I’ll be back on the sidelines for a few weeks from Thursday. We’ve all been there.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Waiting hopefully at the point.

Weather Situation
A high in the Tasman Sea is currently extending a weak ridge back across New South Wales. A trough and weak southerly change, associated with a low pressure centre moving well to the south of Tasmania, will extend along southern and central parts of the coast today. The southerly change will move to the north coast on Monday, as a weak low pressure centre moves from the Bight into western New South Wales. Winds along the coast will freshen from the north to northeast on Tuesday as the low approaches and then crosses the coast later in the day. Winds will then shift southwesterly Tuesday night or Wednesday as the low moves into the Tasman Sea and a ridge begins to build from the southwest.
