"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Grey skies, grey seas

Hello Friends,

What a dull old start to Tuesday. ESE 10-12 kts plus maybe a couple metres at best of short period wind swell (the Sydney MHL buoy is still off the air). A high tide at 0725 isn’t helping either. Nevertheless there was at least one keen type sitting hopefully up the beach toward the Pole when I looked for the first time. Biggest sets might possibly stray into the waist high range at Dee Why.

I’m afraid that even the best south swell spots this morning won’t be all that fabulous. The magnets could be showing up to chest high on the bomb sets, but the short period means they’ll bobble up for a moment before fading back away again.

The Bureau tells us that the wind’ll move more to the east later and that the swell should bump up a touch.

Tomorrow we can expect the wind to be NE but the swell will be dropping back again from any afternoon uptick today. The rest of the week looks pretty darn ordinary and indeed, the long range models are not inspiring. It would seem that spring is upon us.

It’ll all become a bit abstract for me though because I’m off to the California tomorrow on family business and I won’t be back at my beloved northern beaches until the beginning of December. Happily RealSurf will roll on pretty much as per usual, indeed, I’ll be posting early morning conditions assessments as frequently as possible and, as always, sharing a few postcards from Cali along the way. BTW, if you’ve ever wanted to post a guest surf report, just drop me a line and we can have a chat. Would be good fun to see even the occasional report from a new face.

Have yourself a great Tuesday one and all!
