"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Dull start to Tuesday in Sydney

Hello Friends,

Light onshores from early and not a great deal going on thanks to the 11-sec 1.4 metre SSE swell and early morning high tide. Overcast skies and light easterly breeze aren’t contributing much to this morning’s prospects. Wind is due to stay out of the easterly quarters today.

I reckon you’ll be doing really well to score the odd waist high set at a magnet spot today. The various swell models are pretty much all pointing at a week (or more) of small to very small conditions for Sydney. Hope the modeller calling for chest plus tomorrow turns out to be right.

Here’s a screengrab from North Bondi RSL‘s cam. Doesn’t look like the south swell getting in there is anything much…

In terms of size, the situation in California isn’t too much different. But there are sunny skies here so I’ll take a beach walk later and will maybe have a postcard to share out of that.

Weather Situation

A high pressure system over the Bight extends a ridge into New South Wales resulting in a fairly weak pressure pattern today. A weak trough will move along the southern and central coast during the day, decaying in the north early Wednesday as the high shifts east to the Tasman Sea and becomes dominant. This is forecast to bring a return to generally northerly winds during the second half of the week, increasing Thursday and Friday as the next trough approaches from the west.
