"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Fat, full and small

Hello Friends,

Back in the old wheelhouse once more. Climbed aloft this morning to find light offshores (WNW) but only a faint NE wind swell struggling ineffectually against the 0530 high tide. It’s showing as being up to 1.8 metres on average out at sea, but the average period is a marginal 8 seconds, so you’d be doing well to find anything above about the waist high mark. The wind is set to go around to the NE and get up into the 15-25 kt range later. You might be able to find a little something as the tide drops – if the wind doesn’t swing onshore too soon.

Outlook is for the swell settings to stay around about as they are for the coming week (ie short period east to NE wind swell). Wind’ll be NE in the afternoons until Friday when we’re due to get a change over to a southerly regime through Saturday before getting more around to the east on Sunday. Nothing too exciting I guess, but at least it’s not looking utterly hopeless – if you’re keen.

Have yourself a top old Tuesday everyone!

Weather Situation

A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge towards the Queensland coast, while a broad trough of low pressure lies over southern and western parts of New South Wales. Between these systems generally northerly winds are being directed along the coast, although southern parts will see a southerly change today as the trough moves across the region. During Wednesday this trough is expected to decay as the high over the Tasman Sea strengthens, although another trough and southerly change look set to move along the southern coast late Thursday and Friday, continuing to the north during the weekend.
