Hit the south wind spots

Hello Friends,

Light SSE wind and a touch under 2 metres of 9-sec NE swell for Sydney as Tuesday kicks in. Tide’s high at 1050, so early risers had the advantage of a little push on that front. I don’t think too many would make Dee Why their spot this morning though. By the time I had a look at 0800 the southerly was beginning to beat it up pretty badly and no one was in the water from Dee Why point to No Man’s.

The Bureau says the southerly will gradually go east to SE this afternoon (oh great) and tomorrow will see it out of the east going to the NE. At the same time the swell looks like fading back. It seems we’ll bumble along like this until we get into a southerly regime coming in around Thursday afternoon. From the modelling, it would seem we’re then into strong onshores pretty much through to Monday. There should be some reasonable southerly energy on Friday particularly, but surf options will be pretty limited. So who knows, maybe Sunday-Monday will come together for us…

Have yourself a top old Tuesday one and all!

Sort of something, but no takers

Weather Situation

A low pressure trough is bringing a southerly change to the northern New South Wales coast today, behind which a ridge is extending along southern and central parts. Coastal winds will shift more northerly during Wednesday as a high drifts across the southern Tasman Sea, with a broad trough remaining over inland new South Wales. This trough is expected to deepen during Thursday in response to an approaching upper-level system, likely leading to the development of a low centre offshore. By week’s end the trough is forecast to shift to the north while the next high strengthens over Tasmania, generating a fairly brisk onshore flow along most of the New South Wales coast.
