"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Warm from early

Hello Friends,

28 degrees at 0800 on a sunny Sunday morning with only a faint NW breeze. Ocean was looking utterly micro at Dee Why as we headed toward high tide at 0820. Only the odd ski paddler to be seen off the beach. The MHL Sydney buoy wasn’t working, but I’d have to think it’d be struggling to show anything above a metre out at sea. SE magnet spots might possibly have the occasional knee high bomb, but otherwise, I’d be expecting ankle to calf at best.

We should see the NE’r kick in at a standard summer issue 15-20 kts this afternoon. That might possibly bump up a little onshorey something for the super keen. But I wouldn’t set my hopes too high.

Tomorrow and Tuesday look to be a continuation of the minor NE windswell trend – although the Bureau warns us that the wind will be pretty strong in the afternoon.

If the swell models have it right, there may possibly be a little hint of swell on Boxing Day, but between now and then it’s pretty quiet looking.

Maybe go for a swim?

Ah well, enjoy your Sunday one and all and catch you again tomorrow.

Weather Situation

A high pressure system off the New South Wales coast will drift slowly east during the coming days, while maintaining a ridge towards the Queensland coast. This will generate north to northeasterly winds in most coastal areas, becoming fresh to strong early in the new week, particularly for southern and central waters. A trough developing near the state’s western border is forecast to bring a southerly change to southern and central areas mid-week before decaying, with some indications that a more vigorous southerly change may arrive on Friday.
