"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Southerly day in prospect

Hello Friends,

Sunny, light offshore and really small as Thursday got started. We had around a metre of 9-second SE swell. At Dee Why it was struggling to get to waist high and despite smooth surface conditions had only attracted a few takers. Things look like being very different later today and tomorrow.

As noted for the last few days now and confirmed in this morning’s forecast, we can expect to see the swell ramping up toward the end of the day sufficiently to have triggered a large and powerful surf warning.

Wind is set to push up into the 20-30 kt range from the south by midday. It’s expected to stay that way until after dark. But tomorrow morning the swell could be pretty solid under mostly sunny skies and with winds from the westerly quarters. And in a harbinger of the season to come, the winds look to stay favourable into Saturday, although the swell peak could be overnight Thurs-Fri.

Keep on smilin’ everyone and have a top old Thursday.

Weather Situation

A strong cold front is expected affect the New South Wales coast during the day bringing vigorous south to southwesterly winds, which are likely to moderate overnight Thursday. A ridge of high pressure should extend across the state in the wake of the front. Several weaker cold fronts are expected to move through Bass Strait on Friday and Saturday but should only affect the south.
