Southerly day

Hello Friends,

SSE wind at 15-25 kts from before daybreak. Not good. High tide at 0950 too. Throw in grey skies and the odd sprinkle in those gusting winds, and you’re not looking at an ideal beach day.

The Collaroy-Narrabeen stretch was micro at the south end and chest plus but ripped apart at the north end and no one was in the water as of 0700. Around at Dee Why there was the very occasional, lumpy and bumpy chest high thing at the point. It was similar size along the beach, but again, things were very torn up and messy and I didn’t see anyone in the water.

From the shape of the forecast, it would appear that the weekend will be southerly to SE’ly the whole time. There’s not much swell showing on the models, so the only thing going will be junky, choppy wind swell bumps. And it’s currently shaping to be that way through the middle of the coming week – at least. C’mon Huey, it’s autumn, not spring. Where are our offshores and long lines?

Ah well, we can but wait. The waves always come again, so have yourself a great Saturday and get up to some good where you can!

Weather Situation

A low pressure trough is deepening off the north coast, while a high pressure system moves towards Tasmania extending a ridge along the south and central coasts. The trough will weaken later on Sunday as the high moves over the southwestern Tasman strengthening the ridge to the north coast. The next southerly change is expected to move along the coast during Tuesday.
