The Goat’s Surf Forecsat

Surf forecast issued Thursday23 April 2015: Seven day outlook for Sydney:

Well that was a bit of a blow eh?.. but not all that unusual in this little duck’s experience – except that it seemed to be hovering close by Australia’s most populated area for some time. The Sygma storm of May 1974 still takes the cake for me – look it up.

Anyhoo apart from some beachfront and banks having been reorganised (TG say: do not worry Grasshopper the sand will return, eventually), and people still not having power in many areas – a not inconsiderable matter – the clean up has begun… Btw having been without power for half a day ourselves some tips to pass on… the hands free landline phones don’t work – pull out the old phone you haven’t thrown away!?… the lights don’t work – have some standby torches, batteries and candles…the tv and radio don’t work – read books and get a transistor radio! – otherwise you can’t hear the emergency warnings or listen to music.  Oh but you can check the internet or use your smart phone — sure except the internet doesn’t work if you have a modem… and while your mobile etc will be ok (so long as a tower doesn’t go out, get clogged with traffic etc) – if the power outage lasts some days- like in some areas now! – you won’t be able to recharge your battery!  re-read get a book, transistor radio! 🙂 and last it out… Some good salting/drying/ smoking food tips from an outback survival guy on ABC 702 this morning for people with lots of food in freezers.

Now the surf…  easing back but then expected to come up again depending on what another couple of expected Lows down south might do and they are very hard to predict…

Friday: down from today in the 1-2 metre range East South East, then  up

Saturday: 1-2 metres East

Sunday: ditto –  then up at dead South places

Monday: 1-2+ metres, then 2-3 metres dead South

Tuesday: 3 +metres dead South spots – smaller at other places, and bigger out to sea where the MHL waverider buoys are located.

Wednesday: easing back a little say 2-3 metres South South East

Thursday: down a bit more in the 1-2 metre range South East.

Have a good one… and remember and honor the Diggers on Anzac Day
