Fading out at Dee Why this morning

Hello Friends,

Light offshores, high cloud and 1.3 metres of 15-second SSE swell showing at the Sydney buoy. Despite the impressive period, there wasn’t much of anything showing at Dee Why – as you can see from the picture.

The Bureau tells us that they expect the south swell to push up a little toward midday, but at the same time the wind is predicted to come around to the east. Tide was high at 0710 and will be back to low at 1255.

We’re heading into a rainy period across the next few days and then it’ll be showery through to Sunday. The swell models aren’t too exciting either. It’s not shaping to be much different than what we have today – give or take a bit – until Thursday or so. At that point, several of the models are showing a bump in the energy levels starting around then and lasting into the weekend. Wind call is currently looking okay too – SW for Thr-Friday and then variable on Saturday and Sunday.

Hey, and don’t forget to get your tix to the International Surfing Day fundraiser evening for Surfrider Foundation at the Diggers this Friday. Surfing luminaries and Celibate Rifles and food and drink and lots more – you can’t miss it!

Weather Situation
A large high pressure system over southeast NSW will move slowly east and weaken during the day as another, stronger high develops over the southern Tasman Sea. A low pressure trough is expected to deepen over South Australia today and move slowly east to lie over western NSW during Tuesday, before moving further east during Wednesday. A weak low is likely to form in the trough over western NSW on Tuesday then deepen somewhat as it moves off the NSW south coast or east of Bass Strait during Wednesday, before intensifying and moving away to the southeast.
