The Goat’s Surf Forecast

Surf forecast issued Friday 31 July 2015: Eight day outlook for Sydney: August tomorrow, which experience suggests means mostly westerlies, which bring small to flat but offshore conditions and the occasional wave for long boarders and SUPs at the right tide right place.  A bonus is clear, but cooling down, water.  Then after the westerlies […]

Last orders at Curly

A couple of shots from Curly at around 0900. While it was flat at Manly and Dee Why, there were very occasional set waves turning up at Curl Curl. Not many people in the water, and pretty soft looking for the most part, but there were very definitely surfable waves to be had on a […]

Looking flat at Dee Why

Hello Friends, Dee Why was looking utterly unsurfable this morning. The MHL buoy was only picking up 0.6 metres of 16-sec SSE swell. Wind is set to stay offshore this morning and then will become more variable later on. The Bureau is calling for the swell to come up a touch this evening, but tomorrow’s […]

A few waves around this morning

After filing the report this morning, I made the run to Manly and on the way back, checked out Freshie, Curly and Dee Why. Freshwater had a couple of little now and again sort of peaks in the waist to waist plus range. I was tempted, but decided to push on to Curly. Swell was […]

Back to very small

Hello Friends, Our swell event is just about done and dusted. At 0600 the MHL buoy was picking up a metre of 9-second SE swell. This was too small for the point at Dee Why which after a couple of days with crowds in the 20-30 range, is now empty. There is a very small […]

PICS: Dee Why point Tues 28 July 2015

Dee Why point

Tuesday morning saw solid two metre plus south swell and a low tide at Dee Why point for around 30 keen participants. Size ranged from shoulder-ish to solidly overhead. I managed to get over 200 pics of the action which you can check out by going here.

Swell day two: smaller but still fun looking

Hello Friends, Two good things to report this morning. First, the southerly wasn’t blowing it out at 0700 and second, although it’s dropped about a metre, it’s still 2 metres at 11 seconds and better, it’s coming from the SSE rather than the S by SSW. There was quite a crowd on the point again […]

Dee Why point this morning (pics)

A quick preview from this morning’s shooting at the point. Swell was a little too south and tide on the low side, but that wasn’t deterring a 30+ crew of keen folks. When the final gallery is uploaded it’ll have over 200 pics, so if you want to see more, check back this evening or […]

It’s pumping this morning at Dee Why point

Hello Friends, As good as it gets this morning at the point. Set wave faces were well overhead and the swell angle was just the right degree off dead south with a 12-sec period. Surface conditions were super clean thanks to a morning offshore. And naturally, there were more than a few punters in the […]
