One more marginal morning, then wave time for Sydney

Hello Friends,

Swell is on the way for Sydney surfers – but not for southern Californians. From the modelling and the latest Bureau forecasts, it would appear that the chances of an improvement to surf conditions today are not good. The odds are that south swell will fill in overnight and that tomorrow morning should see some solid 10-11 sec 2+ metre energy at standout south spots in the morning, with more places coming into play by midday.

Wind is going to be an issue at spots that don’t like SW. The Bureau says you could be seeing up to 30 kts on peak gusts by late morning. Tide’s high at 0900 or so on Friday but it isn’t the peak high tide of the cycle.

As of 0300 there was a metre of 13-sec south showing on the buoy and wind was out of the west. With any luck there might be a little peak to be had somewhere this morning if you’re really keen.

It’ll be interesting to see what the Goat thinks about the coming week because the various models are all pointing toward waves of some sort from Friday to Tuesday. Ah, July in Sydney…

Nothing of interest happening here today sadly. There might possibly be a little wind bump for the late, but our hopes are all pinned on mid next week when the models indicate a potentially interesting run of southern hemisphere originated swell (thanks!).

Sorry about the downtime yesterday. I’ve taken some measures to (hopefully) prevent a re-occurrence.

Have a top old Thursday!!
