The Goat’s Surf Forecast

Surf forecast issued Thursday 23 July 2015:  Eight day outlook for Sydney

Small for the weekend, then up from the South around Tuesday…And more cold weather’s on the way.

Friday: about 1 metre from the North East

Saturday: 1 metre or less North East

Sunday: similar or flat

Monday: flattish early then starting to come up at dead South places later

Tuesday: coming up through 1-2 metres, 2 + metres dead South..bigger offshore but most of that dead South swell will be travelling on past Sydney up the coast, and there’ll be wind with it… smaller in the sheltered corners

Wednesday: around 2 metres, 2 + metres dead South, and southerly type winds (SW/S/SE)

Thursday: going down through 1-2 metres dead South

Friday: around 1 metre dead South.

There was a whale hanging out at Av today… Now kids I know you’d like to paddle out, along with some of those who are in-tune-with-nature who may feel they’d like to get closer to bond with the beast, but NPWS says don’t.  They are nice to look at from the shore but if you’re in the water remember they are very large wild ocean creatures who aren’t for cuddling…

If it stays around you can watch it with a coffee from the new coffee shop that’s opened in the surf club today..

Wonder if it’s the same one I watched at Narrabeen last week… The south-flowing East Coast current still seems pretty strong and close to the coast for whales headed north swimming against it…

Water temp is under 19… nice and cool to some… too cold to others..
