Monday thumping swell but raw too

Hello Friends,

You know it’s reasonable size when you can hear the waves from more than a km inland. The wind in the trees tells another part of the story too. Swell noise plus wind generally means onshore to sideshore conditions.
As of 0600 the buoy data was showing 3.8 metres of 12-second SSE swell plus some sub-1 metre 10-15 sec stuff from the NNE. Dee Why beach was pretty much all shutdowns, but the point was delivering some solid looking sets with wave faces into the 1.5-2x overhead range on the bombs.
Wind was out of the W-WSW at 10-15 kts. It’s supposed to go more S-SW later, so the rather raw and bumpy surface probably won’t improve much.
It looks as though this morning could potentially be the pick of the week, but, then again the modelling is showing swell of some sort or another through to next weekend. From here it looks as though there could be another event comparable to today’s toward the end of the week – but the wind prospects aren’t red hot (southerlies).
I’ll be out and about this morning, so check back later in case I’ve found something to share. In the meantime, have yourself a top old Monday one and all!
