Thursday micro and choppy early

Hello Friends,

At 0620 when I checked the ocean for the first time today, there was a steady NE breeze and surface conditions at Dee Why looked choppy. According to the Port Kembla buoy, swell was 1.4 metres from the south to SSE at 12 seconds. The Sydney buoy is still off the air, so I’m speculating that it’s even smaller in Sydney than down south. Whatever the numbers, it’s clear that Dee Why is essentially waveless. You might be able to scud slowly to shore if you had a kayak or rescue board, but a mal would be pushing the envelope and shortboards are not an option – unless you want to just paddle around.

The models contain little to encourage for today and tomorrow, but there seems to be a hope for something possibly on Saturday morning for south magnets. My hunch is that the prospect is only for barely surfable knee to waist energy. But it could well be the high point for the next week. It’ll be interesting to see what the Goat reckons.

Have yourself a happy and productive Thursday one and all!
