Swell is here wind will be a factor before long

Hello Friends,

Grey skies and light SSE wind as of 0900. Swell has started to fill in overnight and as of 0600 we had 1.8 metres of 10-sec of S-SE – along with some longer period NNE energy.

Not many people in the water along the beach at Dee Why that I could see, but there was quite a crowd at the point. Tide is low at 0950 and the wind call is for the SE’ly to pick up a little more, but not to go nuts. So if you like what you see now, it should be around that intensity later.

This run of the forecasts models continues to point to a week of mostly east swell energy for Sydney. The wind’s going to be our big issue unfortunately. Tomorrow and Tuesday look pretty ordinary on that front – outlook is for heaps of east to SE wind. Surf options will be very limited.

Ah well! At least the latter half of the week is slightly hopeful on that front…

Go well with your Sunday!

Weather Situation
A high pressure system south of the Bight is moving slowly east maintaining a weak ridge over the coast and directing mostly southeasterly winds onshore. Winds are expected to increase slightly today as the high becomes anchored south of Tasmania until at least the middle of the next week. A deepening trough over eastern New South Wales is expected to turn winds north to northeasterly on the north coast on Monday and Tuesday. The trough is expected to move slowly east to be offshore by Wednesday morning with winds turning southerly and freshening in its wake.
