Waves early but wind to swing SE

Hello Friends,

Wind was going pretty hard from first light. At 0700 it was 15-20 kts from the SSW at North Head. That meant comparatively clean conditions at the Dee Why end of the beach where there was also a bit more swell than this time yesterday. The MHL buoy was showing a mix of south and NE energy at 0400. The southerly component was dominating at close to 2 metres but it was only 5-6 seconds apart, so wave faces were in the waist to chest range at Dee Why.
Tide was low at 0515 and will be back to high at 1125.
Unfortunately it looks as though the wind will smash it soon. The Bureau hoisted the gale warning at 0530 as predictions call for it to go south soon and then move around to the SE this afternoon.
We’re expected to get a mix of east and south swell tomorrow and the Bureau’s issued a powerful surf warning. Problem is that we’re also looking at SE wind all day. They say the swell will fade back on Sunday, but the wind will still be out of the SE. Looking at that, I’d guess the early on Sunday will be the best shot.
Have yourself a great Friday everyone!
