Hello Friends,
Heaps of swell for heaps of people at the point by the time I looked at it for the first time around 0830. Sunny skies, light winds and, according to the MHL bouy data, a straight south swell that was (at 0600) a touch under 3 metres at 9 seconds. Tide was just past the low at 0755 and heading into a high at 1410.
Set wave faces at the point looked to be in the head high range with the odd plus. Hardly anyone in the water along the beach at the Dee Why end. Despite the swell, it doesn’t seem as though we’ve had much of an improvement to the banks – which of course puts more pressure on the point and the Longy bombies.
I’ll be down at Dee Why by 1100 to pitch in with my fellow Surfrider Foundation folks on a beach clean. The board’ll be in the car for later. From the shape of the forecast there ought to be waves all day at south spots.

Weather Situation
A strengthening high pressure system near the western border of New South Wales is drifting slowly east. This pattern will see fresh to strong west to southwesterly winds gradually easing along the coast later today and Monday as the high moves overhead. A new high is expected to develop over the southern Tasman Sea early in the new week, bringing a return to onshore winds. The next significant change is not expected until the end of the week.
