Sunny, windy and small for Saturday

Hello Friends,

Tide was just about at the 0720 low when I grabbed a few snaps of the surf doings this morning. Only half a dozen people in the water from Marquesas to Northy as the sun peeped over the horizon. Wave faces looked to be bigger at the southern end where I saw one set that was about chest high on take off. Around at the Dee Why to Longy stretch, the same conditions prevailed. Kiddies up to about the pole had the best of it (no one was in the water at Longy before 0700). It was glassy and there seem to be some peaks post all the excitement of the last week. Nice change from the endless straighthanders.

The Bureau’s hoisted a strong wind warning for the coast today. The daybreak 10-15 kt WNW should pick up to be 15-25 kts W and then 20-30 kts SW this evening. At the same time the 1.5 metres of SSE swell we saw early is expected to get knocked down by the wind.

It’s going southerly overnight and by tomorrow morning is set to be 20-25 kts along with a 2-3 metre south and east swell combo. So maybe a wave to be had in the south corners if you’re lucky.

Some of the models are showing a little of the Sunday swell sticking around into Monday as the wind drop back. Basically shaping to be a quiet surf week thereafter. Figure on knee to waist at magnets I’d say.

Have yourself a top old Saturday!
