Tiny in Sydney but waves – and wind – on the way

Hello Friends,

Still small in Sydney and likely remain so all day. Tomorrow’s another story though. As of 0300 the MHL buoy was showing a touch under a metre of SE at 11 seconds and wind was coming from the NW at 10-15kts. Tide was coming into the high at 0945. Should be clouding up by daybreak as you head to a possible late shower this evening. Surf prospects are marginal at best.
Tomorrow it should all start happening, although not in a nice way. Brisk SW wind early, turning southerly later and an 80% chance of showers to go with it. Swell should jack up into the 2-3 metre range. Friday should see the swell build a little more, but the wind’s supposed to still be southerly and the weather rainy again.
Saturday and Sunday look more hopeful, with light wind, less shower activity and the prospect of fun size waves in the chest to head plus range at south magnets.
Santa Barbara continues its summer flatness while an hour or so south there are some small waves to be had in Ventura. From the cams it looks a bit better in once you get to spots in north LA county like Topanga (a point break not far from Malibu). Even more energy on tap from Orange county south to the border. Still, you’d be doing very well to find a wave above chest high mark and the wind is into it by mid-morning.
Have yourself a great day and keep the powder dry for the weekend.
