Scrappy conditions for Friday morning

Hello Friends,

Partly cloudy skies as Friday got started in Sydney with the wind out of the WSW at 0700 (but due to go SE then S during the day). The MHL buoy was picking up 3 metres of 9-sec SSE swell. And yet… it really didn’t look very interesting at the point or along the beach when I checked at around 0700. There was one person in the water and it looked like wave faces on sets might be into the shoulder high range. The waves looked pretty wind-swelly too (ie, not coming in as long lines).
Swell is supposed to stay around the 3-metre mark today, which has caused the Bureau to caution about large and powerful surf conditions and there’s an 80% chance of showers. Tide’s high at 1000 this morning.
I’ll be interested to see what the Goat has to say about the coming week. My reading of the various models is that we can probably expect surfable size through to about mid-week. Wind doesn’t look to brilliant for the next 24 hours, but from about Sunday onward it’s shaping to be relatively light for the early sessions. Weather looks to be showery through Monday.
Have yourself a great Friday and stay happy!
