Cleaner, smaller but not flat Saturday

Hello Friends,

Overcast skies but light west wind for the early risers this morning. Swell’s dropped but as of 0500 the MHL buoy was showing 2.3 metres of 9-sec SE energy. Tide hit low at 0430 and is coming into the high at 1040. Some showers offshore and the Bureau says a 70% chance of precipitation along the coast during the day. Wind is supposed to come around to the south and be 10-15 kts.

Waves were clean at 0700 but the beachbreaks were kinda lined up so you had to get lucky if you were anywhere from Kiddies to Longy at Dee Why. The point was about chest to shoulder on sets and fairly busy for such a cold morning. Collaroy was busy but clean and waist high. It was bigger up the beach toward Gardens but the shutdown ration was getting pretty high and there were no takers as of 0700.

Tomorrow the outlook is for the swell to be a touch smaller again, but the wind should be light SW in the morning and light and variable in the afternoon. Bureau sees the swell in the 1.5-2.5 range for Sunday with an 80% chance of showers.

This morning’s swell modelling is pointing toward a steady decline in energy levels to near flatness from Wednesday through next weekend and into the following week. But thereafter the long range projections currently show a potential solid surf event. Maybe. Possibly. Well, don’t bank on it just yet!

Have yourself a top old Saturday one and all!
