Hello Friends,

Although the forecast’s calling for a shower or two today, skies were largely clear over the Northern Beaches as Tuesday got started. Sadly there were no waves to be seen The MHL buoy was picking up 0.75 metyres of ESE wind bump at around 8 seconds apart. I reckon magnets could have knee-ish sets. Conditions are clean with light west wind early. Tide was low at 0540 and will be high at noon.

The Bureau predicts that the waves should come up during the day (see forecast below) but the wind’s expected to go around to the SE – and it’ll stay that way through Thursday. At the same time we can expect a fair amount of rain from Wednesday through to Friday. Not a great prospect, sadly.

Surf outlook for the weekend’s not too hot, but the long range all is currently rather interesting. If it’s right, we could see a 24-hr pulse of solid, long period south swell around Tuesday-Wednesday. Wind call is for NW at this stage. Stay tuned I guess…

Have a great Tuesday everybody and keep on smilin’!

Weather Situation
Northerly winds will give way to southerly winds as a change over the southern waters extends to central and northern parts during the day. Winds will tend northeast to southeasterly on Wednesday as trough over northeastern New South Wales deepens. A low is expected to develop within the trough later Wednesday with increasing winds. The positioning and movement of the low is somewhat uncertain, though it is expected to have moved east later Thursday as a new high pressure system over southeast Australia extends a ridge to the coast.
