Swell’s about where it was yesterday morning, ie about a metre at 8-9 sec apart from the SE. Wind was out of the west at 0700 but the Bureau says it’ll go NE then north 20-30 kts. At the same time the swell’s predicted to bump up a little offshore. That’s probably not going to translate into much of an improvement surfwise. Tide was high at 0645 and’s now headed to the low at 1230.
There were a few hopefuls scattered along the beach at 0700. They were looking lucky to latch onto a knee high dribbler. The point was again too small to be surfed. And as the grabs from the Bondi and south Narrabeen show, it’s pretty ordinary away from Dee Why as well.
The models are still predicting a brief long period pulse from the south tomorrow during the early afternoon. However, as the forecast indicates, there’ll be 20-30 kts of NW wind with it – so options will be limited to a few corners.
I’m liking the look of Sunday’s prospects however. If the models have it right, there could be head plus waves at south spots. While the wind call is looking ok for Sunday (light west), it’s supposed to be more southerly across the following dayseven as the swell continues.

A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea with a ridge to the north is directing northerly winds along the New South Wales coast. Northerly winds will increase during Tuesday ahead of a cold front bringing a brief westerly change to the southern half of the coast on Wednesday night. Winds will then turn back to the north to northeast on Thursday.
