Rainy and dribble surf here (CA) and there (NSW)

Hello Friends,

So, the question is: which will have decent waves first, Sydney or Santa Barbara? Both spots are rainy, both are showing only the faintest sign of energy.
At 0500 in Sydney the wind was ESE 17-20 kts and a band of rain had passed through recently. Waves were dribbly and gutless and tide was running into a 1.8m high at just before 0700.
Outlook is for onshores basically through until Friday morning and for swell energy to track downward, if anything. Not a fabulous set of numbers I’m afraid.
SoCal is similarly dire for the next three days, but then it looks like we could get some very fun conditions for a day or two…
Have a great day one and all!

Winds will turn more northerly on the south coast on Thursday as the high moves further northeast and along the whole coast on Friday. A weak southerly change is expected along the southern half of the coast later Saturday ahead of a stronger cold front on Sunday reaching the mid-north coast in the evening.
