Sydney looks marginal early

Hello Friends,

At 0600 wind was light northerly and there was about a metre of 10-sec SSE swell showing at the Sydney MHL buoy. Waves aren’t likely to be much above the waist high mark at magnet spots on the bomb sets. I’d call it knee high with the rare bigger one.
Tide’s low at 0645 and high at 1245. Wind should come up this morning from the N to NE and ought to be ripping along in the 20-30 kt range by close of play. Yesterday Beachwatch was calling the water suss from south of Avalon to the Shire. It said water temp was 24.
The Goat should be along later with his thoughts for the weekend. From what I can see on the models, the next week isn’t looking too exciting for Sydney surfers. But maybe his Goatness will have a different view…

The lovely view from North Bondi RSL bright and early

Southern California remains in the grip of a winter flat spell, but 2 hours north of where I am, there are definitely waves at magnet spots like Morro Bay. Here’s a snap from the surfline.com camera…

Weather Situation
A high over the southern Tasman Sea extends a ridge along the Queensland coast. A series of cold fronts are crossing the Southern Ocean with a trough and southerly change likely to affect the south coast later on Friday. The trough is expected to move into the northeast on Saturday then a low should form in the trough off the north coast on Sunday.
