Longy midday

Wandered down to Longy and discovered wave like things and only half a dozen people in the water under blue skies. Wind was faintly offshore. The catch? I waited 40 mins for a wave. Still it was shoulder high on takeoff and delivered a playful if somewhat soft face to play on. Very inconsistent but […]

Little bumps for the keen

Hello Friends, Mostly overcast skies with light westerly winds early. Swell is about the same as yesterday, ie just into the catchable range on sets. At 0700 there were a few bods at the point and more scattered along the beach toward the pole. A couple of hours earlier, the MHL buoy was detecting 1.5 […]

Yay! Swell’s perked up

Hello Friends, We’re supposed to have SE wind soon, but as the morning started the breeze was offshore and there was a little swell showing at the point and along the beach. As the pictures show, it wasn’t exactly booming, but given the last week of near flatness, it made a welcome change. The MHL […]

We’re waiting Huey

Hello Friends, Another breezy and chilly morning along the beaches this morning. The MHL buoy is showing less than a metre of 14-sec SSE swell at sea, but it’s not translating into surf at Dee Why. Not that it matters, but tide will hit a 1.4m high at 0940. The Bureau expects the swell to […]

If you’re really keen

Hello Friends, Yep. Still micro to flat along the beaches on this sunny and lightly offshore morning. On the good side, the metre of SSE swell period was close to 14 seconds so that should mean optimally aligned peaks are seeing the occasional waist high bomb. But for the most part, long stretches of the […]

Close to but not quite totally flat

Hello Friends, Barely a breath of wind under sunny skies as Sunday kicked off. Down at the beach though, things are still very much as they’ve been for days now. At Dee Why there’s just the barest hint of a line coming in. Somebody on a SUP was chasing the ripples along the rocks at […]

Not quite completely flat

Hello Friends, Less than a metre of 13-sec SSE swell trickling into the beaches this morning saw only a few people in the water chasing the ankle to knee and a bit high bumps. Tide’s a 1.3m high at 0745, which is no doubt decreasing the already limited number of surf options. As the pictures […]

Small but catchable at Dee Why

Smaller at DY than Curly this morning. But if you were patient you could get the odd waist high moment. Lot of reflected waves doing the cancel or double thing.

Small waves at Curly

A group of people in the water at the south end of Curl Curl getting waves in the waist to rarely chest high range. A bit floppy and gutless mostly but every now and again it’ll come together…
