Surf forecast issued Thursday 3 August 2017:

Seven day outlook for Sydney:

Surf

Offshores, some surf, then not, some surf, then not…

Friday: down from today in the 1-2 metre range East South East, with the westeries knocking it down more

Saturday:  more ditto East

Sunday: 1 metre or less East

Monday: ditto

Tuesday: coming up – briefly – in the 1-2 metre range at places open to dead South swell; some might even get into some protected corners

Wednesday: going down in the 1-2 metre range dead South

Thursday: down more, 1 metre or less dead South places.

Here’s one little gem from 100 years ago, now consigned to history:

SURF BOARDS PROHIBITED. At the last Meeting of the Waverley Council an application was received from Mr. F. Foran for permission to use  a surf board at Bondi. It was decided to Inform the applicant that the practice of surf shooting by means of a surf board was one that should not be encouraged, as It caused Inconvenience  and annoyance to the public.
