Stormy Monday

Hello Friends, Rainy night followed by a morning with heavy overcast and the prospect of more showers. A blustery 15-20 kt NEr was knocking the stuffing out of the Dee Why end of the beach. Couldn’t see anyone in the water, nor any reason for them to be there either. Out at sea swell is […]

Sleep in Sunday

Hello Friends, Light ESE breeze chopping up a feeble SE wind bump under showery and heavily overcast skies for Dee Why. The pictures tell the story: there really isn’t anything that could be described as surf as Sunday kicks off. The wind isn’t expected to back off and the swell isn’t showing much hope of […]

Small and junky Saturday morning

Hello Friends, An unprepossessing Saturday morning for surfers on the Northern Beaches. Dull grey skies dropping the odd sprinkle, a meandering but mainly southerly breeze and only a feeble 8-sec period metre and a bit south wind swell struggling against an incoming 1.8 metre high tide. The pictures tell the sad story of gutless knee […]

Little bumps but not flat

Hello Friends, Our midweek pulse has faded overnight and while the MHL buoy was picking up 1.8 m of 10-sec SSE (158 degrees), the point looked to be waist high and inconsistent. Today’s high tide is a 1/7 m swamper at 0810, so that would definitely have been a factor when I grabbed the pics. […]

TG’s Surf Forecast

Surf forecast issued Thursday 2 November 2017: Seven day outlook for Sydney: After the wind and the cold and the waves that weren’t attractive to almost everyone from the Low that formed down south, there’ll be a short intermission, giving the impression that things are starting to look up, but then… And then… Sigh …Can’t […]

Little Collaroy

Just in case you were wondering…. collaroy had the odd slim mal wave to mess about on this morning as tide was high.

Pretty crazy at the point

Hello Friends Stopped by the point for a look a little before 0900. Tide was very high and as the pictures show, the surface conditions and swell were pretty rugged and challenging for the dozen or so in the water.

Swell roaring for the early

Hello Friends, Had just enough time to post pics but not much else… so more later when I get back from the beach… Looks pretty crazy and out of control but there are people in the water at the point, so I’ll drop by for a closer look in the next hour or so. . […]

Dee Why on low tide

Midday and strong slideshows were making the conditions pretty ordinary. Set faces were overhead but they were crumbly and kind of lumbering slowly along. Skies were mostly clear and there wasn’t much of a crowd chasing the lumps.tomorrow morning could maybe be interesting.
