Another micro day

Hello Friends, Only a faint zephyr stirring the ocean surface at Dee Why as the sun came over the horizon this morning. Skies are clear and the air temp was comparatively mild. But, as the pictures show, there is no swell. The MHL Sydney buoy hasn’t checked in since yesterday evening, but looking at the […]

Dialled back to near flat

Hello Friends, Swell faded away overnight and this morning sees conditions back to where they were on Monday, ie near flat. At 0500 the MHL buoy was seeing 1.2 metres of 10-second SSE swell. If yesterday is any guide, there could be waves at better aligned stretches, but I’d be surprised if there was anything […]

PM piccies from Curly and Dee Why

Hello Friends, Went for a surf at Curly around 1300 and can report we were seeing waves faces into the head and a bit range on the biggest sets. Quality was only so-so as most waves were fat to really fat. But at least we have waves!

Small waves to be had

Hello Friends, We seem to have a little swell this morning. It’s not big enough to kick the point into action, but despite the incoming tide (there’s a 1.57 m high at 1030), waves looked to be into the waist high range at No Mans. Wind was WNW at 10 kts when I grabbed the […]

Nothing doing at Dee Why

Hello Friends, Not a skerrick, not a scrap, not a hope of a wave this morning at Dee Why. From the look of the MHL data for the NSW coast, it would seem that Sydney’s 0.75m of swell is bested in the flatness contest only by B Batemans Bay’s 0.5 m. Everywhere else is bigger […]

Curly & Northy

Hello Friends, Went out this morning and had a chance to check in on north Curly. As the picture shows, it was very small and there were only a couple of folks in the water (although a surf school was lugging boards down that way). Waves looked pretty soft and it was a wait between […]

Back to micro

Hello Friends, Well, that didn’t amount to much. I checked it at intervals on Saturday, hoping the swell would bump up as the tide dropped. But it didn’t cross the threshold for me. Best and biggest waves I saw yesterday were soft, crowded and maybe waist to chest at Northy. Dee Why was smaller and […]

Tiny but catchable at magnets

Hello Friends, Very small, but at least there were a few little waves at magnets as Saturday got started. Waves looked to be in the knee to maybe waistish on the best sets. Speaking of which, there seemed to be long gaps between sets as well. Tide was coming into theĀ  1.5 m high at […]

Tiny lines

Out for a ride and can report there is more energy than this morning. Best waves were at Northy but there were close to 20 in the water chasing the very occasional sets. Biggest waves were around the chest high range maybe a touch bigger. Looked a bit sectiony too. At Dee Why there were […]
